nside the Mind of Leonardo
For Inside the Mind of Leonardo, I worked on the design and art direction for a hybrid feature documentary that blends scripted drama, documentary, and theatrical performance to enter the world of Leonardo da Vinci’s imagination.
The visual direction was built from direct inspiration drawn from Leonardo’s original drawings and journals, including studies of water, motion, geometry, human proportion, architecture, and natural systems.
Rather than using these references as historical decoration, I translated them into a living design language that could move through the film itself. Lines, structures, diagrams, and abstract forms were embedded into the shots as extensions of thought, almost as if the audience were seeing the invisible mechanics behind Leonardo’s perception.
The result was a visual system where drawing, memory, invention, and observation became cinematic elements, allowing the film to move between the physical world and the inner architecture of a mind constantly studying how nature, body, and motion are connected.
